Amid Saudi controversy, Trump administration announces new sanctions on Iran

ㅤ"The Treasury Department rolled out financial penalties on a network of companies and banks that supports the paramilitary arm of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
ㅤThe U.S. accuses the paramilitary group, the Basij Resistance Force, of recruiting and training child solders to fight in overseas conflicts, including the civil war in Syria.
ㅤ’This vast network provides financial infrastructure to the Basij’s efforts to recruit, train, and indoctrinate child soldiers who are coerced into combat under the IRGC’s direction,’ Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in a statement.
ㅤThe multi-billion network includes shell companies that mask Basij’s ownership of automotive, mining, metals corporations that have dealings in the Middle East and Europe and help fund their operations."

American Bar Association Closes Review Of Kavanaugh; Critics Won't Like The Result

ㅤ"Amid the uncorroborated allegations circus, the American Bar Association caused a stir by re-opening its review process of then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Republicans Finally Get Mad – But Will It Last ‘Till The Midterms?

Story via Sutter Media.

ㅤ”We cannot afford to get complacent if we want to convince the Democrats that yes, they really did lose in 2016, and no, they have no legitimate reason to have spent the past two years trying to nullify it, acting like there’s nothing wrong with their party, and becoming more and more radical in the outlooks, convictions, and policies that led to their loss…”

We cannot afford to get complacent if we want to convince the Democrats that yes, they really did lose in 2016, and no, they have no legitimate reason to have spent the past two years trying to nullify it, acting like there’s nothing wrong with their party, and becoming more and more radical in the outlooks, convictions, and policies that led to their loss.

The only way to convince them seems to be to sweep Congress. Failing that, even a virtual tie (no blue wave, but no real gains for the GOP) leaves the door open to Democrats claiming they deserve to be in power, should have never lost, and have no reason to get their party in order or change direction. Establishment politicians like Feinstein, Pelosi, Waters, Schumer, and Menendez will double down on the corporatism they long ago embraced to retain power; hard left upstarts like Cortez, Bernie…

Trump administration eyes military to boost blocked gas, coal exports in West

Pictured: Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke
~~

ㅤ"Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke on Monday told the Associated Press he wants to use military bases in Alaska and other Pacific states as hubs for exporting U.S. fuel, which is in high demand abroad but remains constrained by West Coast Democratic governors who have blocked new export terminals on environmental grounds. The proposal — the details of which remain murky — would mark a radical change for U.S. energy policy and could see military facilities for the first time used directly to ship fuel overseas.
ㅤ’I respect the state of Washington and Oregon and California,’ Mr. Zinke said. But ‘it’s in our interest for national security and our allies to make sure that they have access to affordable energy commodities.’"

ㅤô¿ô …I assume this plan has been well thought out.

U.N. climate report merely a blueprint for destroying the world economy

ㅤô¿ô …The U.N. is full of corrupt scumbags who hate Western Civilization and want to sell windmills and solar panels.
ㅤGeothermal energy is the only alternative to nuclear that stands a chance of supplying enough energy to the world.
ㅤCurrent eco-charlatans are equivalent to quack doctors selling magic elixirs. It was a mistake to give them a foothold in the energy market.

Border Patrol Agent to Journalists: Camp by the River and 'See How Safe You Are'

ㅤ"CBS News reporter David Begnaud traveled to Roma, Texas, in July to cover a story about Texas landowners getting notices about a proposed border wall, Breitbart Texas reported. While shooting a segment along the river, he was shocked to see a group of illegal immigrants making their way across in broad daylight a few hundred yards from a U.S. Customs and Border Protection port of entry. He was even more shocked when a man with a two-way radio approached them and told them to leave. Begnaud described being confronted by a man who he later called a ‘scout.’ The ‘scout’ is a person who likely works directly for the cartels that control all illegal crossings of humans and drugs across the Rio Grande River…"

Variety TV Critic: Trump Outmatched '60 Minutes'

ㅤ"Trump, by pushing through questions and by capitalizing on an interview approach seeking to synthesize his entire presidency into two segments of television, effectively converted ’60 Minutes’ into a short rally. There are those who will see his rants as worthy, and those who will loathe them; whatever unity can be made to exist by the President exists only within those camps. That ’60 Minutes’ went looking for something greater is more proof than viewers needed that their approach to the President left them outmatched."

EU Leaders Planning Emergency ‘No Deal’ Summit As UK Conservatives Scuttle Draft Brexit Plan

Story via NZ Conservative Coalition.

ㅤ”If you didn’t already, developments related to the ongoing negotiations over a Brexit agreement outline – negotiations that, as far as we know, have been an unmitigated trainwreck – should almost engender pity for UK Prime Minister Theresa May and the impossible situation in which she now finds herself. Trigger Reset

The dramatic release of Pastor Andrew Brunson saw the American going from detention in Turkey to sitting in the Oval Office in less than in 24 hours.

Brunson, an American citizen who was a pastor in Turkey for 23 years, was arrested in October 2016 in a sweep of Turkish judges, police officers, soldiers, university professors, civil servants and more in Turkey’s Islamist President Erdogan’s post-coup crackdown against perceived dissidents.

President Donald Trump, who said he and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke about Brunson’s case at “at least once a day,” said of the release:

“We don’t pay ranson – at least not any longer – otherwise bad things will happen, lots of bad things will happen,” ostensibly referring to the $400 million cash payment the Obama Administration released to Iran when the Islamic Republic released four Americans they were holding prisoner.

The payment to Iran was part of…

Ted Wheeler, Portland mayor, stands by decision to allow Antifa to block traffic

ㅤ"At one point, the activists chased down 74-year-old Kent Houser after he made a right turn against their wishes, pounding on his silver Lexus and breaking a window. The car sustained thousands of dollars in damage, he told the Oregonian.
ㅤEven so, Mr. Wheeler insisted that ‘motorists should feel completely safe coming into downtown Portland.’"

GOP pollster: Republicans may hold on to the House in midterms

ㅤ"GOP pollster John McLaughlin said Sunday that Republicans may be able to fend off Democrats’ efforts to take back control of the House in November’s midterm elections.
ㅤSpeaking on AM 970’s ‘The Answer’ in New York, McLaughlin told host John Catsimatidis that the key to a Republican victory next month is retaining enthusiasm felt by GOP-leaning voters following the successful confirmation of President Trump’s second Supreme Court nomination, Brett Kavanaugh.
ㅤ’You’re seeing Republicans in the areas where Trump did well go up in the polls because the Trump voters are reengaged,’ McLaughlin said.
ㅤ’If, over the next three weeks, they keep those Trump voters engaged, [then] we have a shot at holding the House, but we’ll definitely pick up some U.S. Senate seats,’ the pollster continued."

The Worst-Run States Have This ONE Thing In Common

ㅤ"The most recent data available comes from 2016, and Mercatus said this would be the last year for the rankings. But this is no one-time thing. Mercatus has been ranking states for years, and nine of the 10 consistently worst-ranked states are Blue States (Illinois, California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Connecticut, Hawaii, New Mexico, New York and Rhode Island, with Kentucky being the lone Red State in the group). Conversely, nine of the 10 consistently best-ranked states were all Red States (South Dakota, Tennessee, Nebraska, Florida, Utah, Alaska, Oklahoma, Wyoming, and Montana, with New Hampshire as the lone Blue State in the group)."

Donald Trump: The Republican Party Now Includes the American Worker

ㅤ"’The party is a much bigger party now, and it’s like really a party for the working men and women in this country, in addition to plenty of others,’ the President said in an interview with TIME magazine about the future of the Republican party.
ㅤTrump credited his victory in the 2016 election to unconventional political ideas on trade and foreign policy.
ㅤ’I guess in the true sense, it has been changed, and I think that’s why I won an election nobody else would have won,’ he said.
ㅤThe President pointed to his success in renegotiating NAFTA, his ongoing trade struggle with China, and his demands for NATO countries to fulfill their financial commitments as proof that he could deliver on his promises to put ‘America First.’"

Trump Tariffs Win Higher Wages for Michigan, Minnesota Steelworkers

ㅤ"The 1,850 American steelworkers who are set to see wage increases are based in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan’s Tilden and Empire mines and the United Taconite and Hibbing Taconite mines in Iron Range, Minnesota.
ㅤThe wage increases were only made possible as the iron, steel, and overall metals industry has seen a boom after President Trump enacted a 25 percent tariff on imported steel and a ten percent tariff on aluminum.
ㅤCleveland Cliffs executives are so supportive of Trump’s tariffs on imported products that they have launched an ad campaign talking up the benefits the economic nationalist agenda has brought for American workers and the metal industry.
ㅤIron Range, Minnesota — which was devastated by multinational free trade deals — has been revitalized by the Trump tariffs. A local report this month noted how small businesses in Iron Range are seeing employment booms and a growing economy thanks to the strong production of the iron mines in the region."
