Trump Admin Makes It Easier to Avoid Obamacare Penalty

ㅤ"The Trump administration issued new guidance Wednesday that makes it easier for Americans to opt out of having health insurance this year and not be penalized via the individual mandate.
ㅤThe tax cuts law that was passed in December 2017 got rid of the individual mandate starting in 2019. For this year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will allow people to claim a ‘hardship exemption’ on their 2018 tax returns and avoid paying the penalty for not having insurance — without having to provide documentation."

WATCH: Trump Slams John McCain Action At Nashville Rally

p30article002528whp.png

ㅤ"The President said, ‘Then, of course, repeal and replace Obamacare. We had it done, folks. It was done. Then early in the morning, somebody turned their hand in the wrong direction. That cost our country a lot. That was a very, very terrible thing that happened that night.’
ㅤ’That was a very terrible thing that cost our country $1 trillion in entitlement saving that nobody would have known,’ he continued.
ㅤ’It would have given us a good health care plan, and that cost us a lot,’ the President recalled. ‘Nobody knew that was going to happen, because we had it done. Repeal and replace! And the person who voted that way not only talked repeal and replace! He campaigned on it!’"ㅤ

Obamacare Is Making Nat’l Healthcare Affordability Worse Than It Was

OBAMACARE IS MAKING NAT’L HEALTHCARE AFFORDABILITY WORSE THAN IT WASp10article185827whp.jpg

ㅤ"A primary argument made for passing the Affordable Care Act (ACA, or so-called ‘Obamacare’) was that only such an expansion of the federal role in healthcare could successfully slow the growth of national health costs and thereby avert fiscal disaster. During the first few years after the law’s enactment, many of its supporters contended it was already accomplishing this, which other analysts strongly disputed. But more recently a quiet consensus has overtaken the former controversy: thus far the ACA’s cost-containment mechanisms are failing, and the net effect of the law has been to make our national healthcare affordability problem worse than it was…"

ㅤ”Congress failed to tamp down Obamacare premiums in last week’s spending bill, shifting the burden onto states, where governors and legislatures are facing growing pressure — but few good options — to bring down rates before companies finalize their 2019 prices.”

Aetna’s profits soar as company forecasts higher earnings due to GOP tax law

ㅤㅤAETNA’S PROFITS SOAR AS COMPANY FORECASTS HIGHER EARNINGS DUE TO GOP TAX LAWp30144719.jpg

ㅤ”The result was in part because of higher yields in its commercial and government businesses, meaning partnerships like Medicare and Medicaid.
ㅤAetna significantly scaled back its participation in the Obamacare exchanges for 2017 and withdrew completely in 2018.
ㅤFor 2018, Aetna reported it expects to increase gross adjusted earnings by about $800 million in 2018 because of the Republican tax bill signed into law by President Trump, which lowers the corporate tax rate.”

ㅤô¿ô …This is HUGE. Pehaps Aetna will make a complete come back to the Obamacare exchanges. Maybe even lower premiums. Wow !!

The Obamacare individual mandate is repealed. Here’s what’s next

ㅤ”Republicans have long charged that the CBO overestimates the number of people who would go without coverage if the mandate disappears. Some Republicans have said that the mandate has never been a key driver of enrollment, pointing to the poor financial performance of Obamacare insurers and rising prices over the past few years.
ㅤSen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., said this month he believes the CBO ‘lost any credibility’ over insurance coverage numbers because the coverage estimates due to the mandate repeal were far off.”

ㅤ”The Congressional Budget Office has found that the repeal of Obamacare’s individual mandate, which requires people to have health insurance or pay a fine, will result in fewer people becoming uninsured than it had projected.”

ㅤô¿ô …Polls show that only 0.002% of Americans were surprised by this.

Passing Tax Reform Offers Republicans Another Shot to Repeal Obamacare

ㅤPictured: Rep. Dave Brat (R-VA)

ㅤ”Speaker Paul Ryan signaled that next year he wants to tackle entitlement reform, while Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell suggested that Republicans should move on from repealing Obamacare. Republicans will only have a one-seat majority in the Senate in 2018, which will make more contentious issues such as welfare reform and Obamacare repeal less politically viable, although some conservatives have argued that Republicans should focus on repealing Obamacare.
ㅤRep. Dave Brat, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, contended, ‘When I go back home, the No. 1 issue, by far, is still ObamaCare and major health-care reform that’s needed to bring these skyrocketing premiums to an end.'”

2018: What’s Next for Obamacare

ㅤ”The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act repealed the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate. Obamacare mandated that Americans who forgo health insurance would have to pay $695 or 2.5 percent of their income, whichever is larger. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) found that 80 percent of those who pay the Obamacare mandate fine make less than $50,000 a year, making the mandate’s repeal a huge middle-class tax cut.”

Trump: GOP tax bill essentially repeals ObamaCare

ㅤ”‘When the individual mandate is being repealed, that means ObamaCare is being repealed,’ the President said during a Cabinet meeting at the White House. ‘We have essentially repealed ObamaCare and we will come up with something much better.'”

ㅤô¿ô …Repeal of the mandate should not have significant effect. Obama’s IRS was not enforcing the mandate. Obamacare has deeper problems that still must be addressed.

Healthcare remains the top priority for both Republicans and Democrats: Poll

ㅤô¿ô …Here are Americans’ major priorities… Republicans: ACA repeal 40%; ACA fix 33%; illegal immigration 38%; lower taxes 35%. Democrats: renewing CHIP 48%; gun control 47%; Puerto Rico relief 43%; low drug prices 35%. Russia collusion doesn’t even get an honorable mention.
ㅤWhen election day draws near, the economy is always the most important issue for all Americans. Repubs are focused on the economy. Dems are apparently ignoring the economy, proving once again that Dems are in full flight from reality.
